CELEBRATIONS |
|
The culmination of ‘Dashabdik Celebration took place on 18th June 2011 at Kusum Memorial Auditorium in a spectacular manner. All the heads and members of teaching staff of Bright Day School both GSEB and CBSE were felicitated by the members of the management. To make the event momentous, attractive mementos were given, followed by a lively dance programme. This day will be cherished by all of us. |

On 19th June 2011, the culmination of ‘Dashabdik Celebration’ took place in C.C. Mehta Auditorium, M.S. University. The function was presided over by Shri Jitendrabhai Sukhadia, Minister of Tourism and Civil Supply, Gujarat State. The other Guests of Honour who graced the function were Smt. Jyotiben Pandya, the Mayor of Vadodara city, Shri Balubhai Shukla, Shri Ramesh Rathwa, Shri Siddharth Patel and Shri Bhupendra Lakhawala.
A souvenir which portrayed the journey of the decade was released on this occasion. A cultural programme was presented by the teachers. The Heads of the different units of Bright School were felicitated by the Chief Guests and Guests of Honour; for their long and dedicated service.

Janmashtami was celebrated with great joy by kids of KG section alongwith their teachers. Children as well as teachers danced to the melody of different songs related to Lord Krishna and presented the different ‘leelas’ of Lord Krishna. The auditorium was echoing with children saying ‘Hathi Ghoda Palki… Jai Kanaiyalalki’. The celebration ended with Mataki Tod and a Rass, in which the parents too joined in.

The students of KG Section presented “School Chale Hum”, a programme which gave our parents a glimpse of what a day at Bright entails for their child. Children danced to the beat of songs which were not only fun for them but, learning of letters, words, numbers, themes like body parts, rainy season and birthday were taken care of.

On the 15th August 2011, Bright Day School, Vasna unit celebrated the flag hoisting ceremony with a great feeling of patriotism, This was followed by a short, colourful cultural programme presented by the students and teachers with the full spirit of patriotism. The Joint Director Shri Saumil Shah presided over the function and hoisted the flag.

EVENTS |
Student Union Elections for the academic year 2011-2012 were held on 8th July 2011. The students from std V-XII cast their votes and elected their representatives. The elections made children experience the democratic system in India. It also exemplified the Universal adult franchise which exhibits political equality in India.

The Investiture Ceremony for the year 2011-2012 was held on 22nd July 2011 at Kusum Memorial Auditorium. The elected student representatives were conferred with badges for different posts and decorated with sashes by the Joint Director Shri Saumil Shah and Principals Mrs. Ratna Saha and Mr. Mukesh Patel.

ACHIEVEMENTS |
Our students participated in the preliminary round of the Chinmaya Geeta Chanting Competition held in August. Four students, Jeet Prashad Desai of Std V, Harshit K. Madhani, Pranjali Gopal Krishna and Abhilash R. Adyaof Std VII have qualified for the final rounds to be held in the last week of September.

Our student Abhishek Abbi of Std III stood 10th in the State level Oral Round of Marrs International Spell Bee Championship
2010-11, held on 4th Sept 2011.

On 28th August 2011 a dance competition at State level was organized by Baroda Rocks Dance Academy at Ambe School (Manjalpur). Our team of twelve students of Std IX & X stood 3rd.

An Inter School Singing Competition was held in September 2011, which had group and solo performances based on the famous poet Zaverchand Meghani’s poems. Twelve students of Std IX & X participate & won the 2nd prize in a group performance. Rishabh Doshi of Std won the 3rd prize in a solo performance.

On the 8th September 2011 a Science fair on Disaster Management was organized by C.V. Raman at University Experimental School. Our students Yash Choudary and Mahendra Dambe participated and won and will now participate at the District level.

Professional Development |
Ms. Manisha Vakil & Ms. Mukti Vyas attended a workshop conducted by the Balwant Parekh Centre for General Semantics and other Human Sciences, at Tejas Vidhyalaya on the 29th & 30th of July 2011. The theme for the workshop was “Facilitating constructive Pedagogy and Harmonious Inter-personal Relations in the Classroooms.

Ms. Minu Mahajan & Ms. Smita Jani attended a workshop on ELT, at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s on the 27th of August 2011, The resource person was Prof. R. Vadivelu from Chennai.

All our Maths teachers teaching in classes III to VIII attended a workshop at our VIP Unit, on the 31st of August 2011. The Resource person was Mr. Shekhar Hardikar from Rajkot.

All our English teachers teaching in classes III to VII attended an ELT workshop at Vasna Unit, on the 31st of August 2011. The Resource person was Ms. Ratna Rao, from Ahmedabad.

Our Principal Ms. Ratna Saha attended a workshop ‘ I thought I was thinking’ at Riverside School Ahmedabad on the 10th of September 2011. It was a very interesting workshop focusing on the relevance & importance of incorporating a Thinking Culture in our schools.
