Vrutant Shah of Std. IX is selected for the Basketball Centre of Excellence (COE) summer camp by Sports Authority of Gujarat, to be held at Bhavnagar.He and his team secured the Runner up position and won the Silver Medal in Vibgyor Cup Basketball Tournament (U-15) which was held from 29th April to 2nd May. He also received a Certificate of Participation in Basketball event organized by Summer Coaching Camp.
Megh Patel of Std. IX received a Certificate in the Cyclothon organized by Lions Club of Baroda, Vishwamitri. He also bagged Medal in Cycling Competition & received Certificate in Running Competition organized by Decathlon. He has been selected successively for the second time for Gujarat State Summer Competition held at Bhavnagar organized by the Government of Gujarat for COE selection. He also clinched the Vibgyor Cup and a Silver Medal in Basketball Skills Competition.
Rutva Pandya of Std. VII secured the second position and bagged a Silver Medal in Open Gujarat Mini State Championships 2023 organized by Gujarat India Skate RSFI at Surat. She was also selected for the summer camp – 2023 organized by Sports Authority of Gujarat (for Skating). She bagged 2 Silver Medals in 2 races organized by RSFI – First Open Gujarat Mini State Championship held at Surat on 27th& 28th May 2023.
Naisha Desai of Std. VIII secured the first position in 100 m Bifin and 3rd position in 50 m Bifin in Junior D group in 1st Gujarat State Finswimming Championship 2023. She is also selected for the State Summer Competition. 2023 (COE) by the Sports Authority of Gujarat.
Arpita Patankar of Std. V secured the 2nd position in ‘Indore International Challengers Chess Tournament’ held from 3rd to 6th April in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She is also selected for the Chess Centre of Excellence (COE) summer camp by Sports Authority of Gujarat to be held at Ahmedabad. She also secured the first position in U-11 & U-10 girls category in Rapid Chess Tournament held in Mumbai on 25th June 2023. She was awarded with trophies & Smart watch.
Darsh Joshi of Std. VII secured the first position in Badminton Competition in Summer Coaching Competition, Gandhinagar organized by Sports Authority of Gujarat.
Daksh Tilwani of Std. VII received a Certificate for participating in Boy’s Singles U-19 first round and quarter finals in a competition organized by All India Tennis Association. He was also the winner in under-12 Boy’s Singles Open Vadodara Tennis Tournament and received a Trophy and a Certificate. Handwriting Competition for Std. I & II was organized on 7th July 2023. The objective of this competition was to encourage students to improve their calligraphy skills. Handwriting is an essential skill for students. It is an incredibly important exercise for students to encourage them to develop fine motor skills and confidence. It activates the brain and contributes to reading fluency. The competition provided the students with an opportunity to display their competency in legible writing. The response of the students was very encouraging.
Poetry is the core of literature. To spread the fragrance of poetry amongst the students of Std. III Recitation Competition was organised on the school. Our cute poets enjoyed the beauty of expression, thought, feeling, rhyme, rhythm and the music of words. The main purpose behind conducting such competitions is to build self confidence, develop the oratory skills and self expression. Students recited the poems like Save trees, Be a Kind, Never give up in life, Be the Best whatever you are and many more. The participants were applauded and praised for their capabilities.
Little hands and innovative minds came together in a creative burst of energy during the “Best Out of Waste” competition held on Friday 7th July 2023 for Std IV and V. The competition focused on bringing an understanding among the children about preserving the environment by reusing and recycling waste material. Fantabulous ideas were demonstrated using material like newspaper, old CDs, used plastic bottles, ropes, ice cream sticks, bangles, shoe boxes etc.
The students of Std. VI and VII participated in the Inter-House ‘Light Music Competition’ held on 7th July 2023. The students sang beautifully to the melodious tunes and electrifying beats leaving the audience captivated. All the participants demonstrated their creativity and skill, delivering powerful performances that resonated with everyone present. Some of the songs sung by them included: Mangalbhavan a mangalhaari, Aarambh hai prachand, Ramji ki nikli sawari, Achyutam keshavam, Give me some sunshine, Mithe ras se bhari re Radha rani, Tere jaisa yaar kaha etc. The competition not only provided a platform for aspiring singers to showcase their abilities but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and mutual appreciation for the arts.
The students of Std. VIII and IX participated in an Inter-House 'Card Making Competition' on the topics 'Rakshabandhan' and 'Thanks Giving to Teachers', on 7th July 2023. The event was a great opportunity for students to showcase their creativity. It was a medium through which they expressed their affection for their brothers/sisters and gratitude for their teachers. They were judged for creativity, originality, and relevance to the theme. All the students participated enthusiastically.
Famous Characters Come Alive competition was held on 7th July 2023 for the students of Std. X to XII. The students brought forth famous characters like Elizabeth, Mark Antony, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Swami Vivekananda, Lady Macbeth, Sudha Murthy, Kalpana Chawla, Steve Jobs and many more alive on stage. The competition kept everyone spellbound. The judges were captivated by the students dialogue delivery, costumes and overall presentation.
International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June every year to honour the traditional practice of yoga, which originated in India. The idea for the day was proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The theme for International Yoga Day 2023 is ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which represents our shared desire for ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’.
The school observed International Yoga Day with great vivacity and spirit. During the assembly the students shared interesting information about Yoga its origin, history and benefits. Moving forward, the students of the school took a pledge. The spirit of the day was further enhanced by the singing of a melodious parody by the school choir under the able guidance of the music teachers Mr. Rajiv Dashputre and Ms. Debjani Goswami. The teachers conducted a Yoga Quiz for the students of Std. III to XII in the classroom. Throughout the day the students performed various asanas like ‘Veerbhadrasana’, ‘Ardhachakrasana’, ‘Tadasana’, ‘Vrikshasana’, ‘Pashchimotasana’, ‘Padmasana’, ‘Dandasana’, ‘Vajrasana’; under the supervision and guidance of the Physical Education teachers. The benefits of the asanas were also explained to the students. The students crooned to the importance of yoga in daily life.
Student Council Elections
Students Council Elections are held every year in our school around this time. Having a Student Council body is a matter of great pride for every school. The purpose with which Student Council Elections are held, is to give exposure to students about the entire election procedure like campaigning, electing the right candidates etc.
The eagerly awaited Student Council Elections 2023- 2024 were held on 30th June 2023. The contestants as well as the voting body keenly looked forward to the event. The contestants campaigned for their respective positions with supreme confidence and their enthusiasm was reciprocated in equal measure by the voting body of the school.
Investiture Ceremony
Investiture Ceremony for the elected members of the students council was held on 6th July 2023 in the J. R. Shah auditorium. The ceremony commenced with a prayer. Then, the elected Student Council Members were felicitated by the Chairman Dr Simit Shah with sashes and badges. The Class Representatives were also felicitated with badges.
The Student Council Members took an oath to faithfully work for the school. The Oath taking Ceremony was presided by the Principal, Ms. Neeta Sharma. She encouraged the Student Council Members to address their responsibilities with utmost honesty and sincerity and become an inspiration for others. Following this the Head Boy, Head Girl, Vice President and General Secretary delivered speeches thanking the Management for giving them the opportunity to undertake various leadership positions. They also thanked all the students for showing utmost faith in them and electing them for the respective posts. The Student Council Members walked past the length and breadth of the school. It was a visual treat to see the Council Members walking with their heads held high, cheered by Brightians. The ceremony culminated with the Brightians crooning to the School Song and the National Anthem.

Founder’s Day
Bright Day School, observes Founder’s Day on 3rd July, in memory of Sir Shri Jayendrabhai Shah, the remarkable individual who laid the foundation of the esteemed institution. During the morning assembly, students, heads and teachers alike, reflected on the profound impact Sir had on their lives and expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to have known him and to have been guided by his wisdom and vision. Principal Ms Neeta Sharma shared his journey, his vision and admired his unmatchable perfectionism. Songs were sung and dances were performed in Sir’s memory. The students paid heartfelt tribute to Sir by drawing his sketches and writing beautiful poems and compositions praising and revering the larger-than-life figure. The teachers shared his journey (a humble beginning of schooling 33 students to becoming the Chairman of one of the most acclaimed educational institutions in town) in classrooms.
We at Bright Day School carry the torch of Sir’s legacy under the guidance of Chairman Dr Simit Shah and Ma'am Swara Shah, with utmost reverence and determination. As we celebrate the extraordinary life he lived, we pledge to carry his legacy forward with pride, ensuring that his vision and dreams live on, forever etched in the fabric of the institution he so passionately built.

National Reading Day
The students observed the 28th National Reading Day on 19th June 2023 to pay homage to P.N. Panicker, the driving force behind the Library Movement in India. The day was celebrated to foster a culture of reading in the young, impressionable minds of Gen Z. Interesting and engaging activities were conducted by the language teachers in the classrooms which included – quizzes, elocution, group reading, digital reading, story-telling, recitation etc.
Motivational Talk
Motivation is the reason for our actions, desires, and needs. It is also one's direction towards behaviour or what causes a person to repeat a behaviour. A motive is what prompts the person to act in a certain way, or at least develop an inclination for specific behaviour.
Mr. Sajan Shah, a memory man from India, conducted a motivational session for our students in Std. VI to X. He inspired students not to make excuses and to never give up. He also engaged students in activities and explained the steps to success. The session was very beneficial for students. He also gave tips for increasing memory and concentration. An eco-friendly pencil was distributed to the students. The students have been instructed to use 75% of the pencil, and the remaining 25% has to be planted, which will bear plants in another 10–12 days. This message of using eco-friendly materials is explained to save nature.
CBSE's 'Centres of Excellence' (CoE)
1. CBSE's 'Centres of Excellence' (CoE) provide leadership, best practices, research, support, trainers' training programmes and skill development for teachers by organising various capacity building and empowerment programmes. The objective is to innovate and adapt methods to achieve academic excellence in conformity with redefined pedagogical, social and psychological principles.
2. Bright Day School, organized COE training on 'Learning Outcomes and Pedagogy' for the teachers on 3rd May 2023 conducted by CBSE. The session began at 9 am. The resource persons were Mr. Shaji Joseph and Ms. Kavita Sharma. The session started with the lighting of the lamp ceremony by the Principal Ms. Neeta Sharma, the resource persons and other heads of school.
3. During the session, the resource persons oriented the teachers with innovative methodologies and pedagogies of teaching. Various other topics like Blooms Taxanomy, Assessment Rubrics etc. were also covered during the session as an understanding of these is very important for the successful implementation of new assessment practices as per NEP 2020. Performance based activities were organized by the resource persons which made the session enjoyable and interesting. A discussion was conducted about the problems faced by the teachers in the classrooms and ways to tackle them. The session concluded by 4:30 pm. The teachers found the training relevant and enriching. They are looking forward to implement the newly learnt methodologies and pedagogies in day-to-day classroom teaching.

Gyan Sarovar Sahodaya workshops for professional enrichment were held on 8th July 2023 (Saturday) for teachers of Std. I to X and on 24th June 2023 (Saturday) for teachers of Std. XI and XII. The details of the same are as follows :
1. The workshop for Std. I & II (English, Mathematics, EVS) was conducted by Ms. Anita Abby. It was about NEP 2020 – Framework of Foundational State 2022, National Curriculum Framework, Integrated Learning, Blooms Taxonomy and Lesson plans. Many ideas were shared and hands on activities were conducted. Ms. Komal Methwani, Ms. Nikita Kadam, Ms. Trupti Pal, Ms. Mallika Mehta, Ms. Neha Oza, Ms. Shruti Varshney, Ms. Sandhya Shah, Ms. Sonali Patwardhan, Ms. Prashansa Gonsalves, Ms. Pranali Patel attended the workshop.
2. The workshop for Std. III to V (English) was conducted by Ms. Shraddha Anand. This workshop emphasized on LSRW skills of English language. The sub skills like task listening, dictation, conversation, same sounds, responding to visual clues, parallel writing & speed reading were also included. Many interesting activities like Chinese Whispers, Simon Says, Story-Building etc. were conducted. The workshop was informative and interesting. Ms. Neha Davesar, Ms. Ranjana Chauhan, Ms. Preet Avtani, MS. Sudha Vaidya, Ms. Arti Shah, Ms. Neha Kapade, Ms. Leela, Ms. Jyoti, Ms. Richa Rathod attended the workshop.
3. The workshop for Std. III to V (Hindi) was conducted by Ms. Vandana Chadha. Many interesting activities were conducted covering various topics related to grammar. Grammar test was also conducted. The resource person answered all the queries. Ms. Preeti Bhatt, Ms. Geeta Rajbhar attended the workshop.
4. The workshop for Std. III to V (Mathematics) was conducted by Mr. Arun Kumar Singh. The resource person explained the short cuts for teaching certain concepts in Mathematics. Various activities were conducted for the concepts of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. The techniques of introducing Math concepts to the children of different mental abilities were also covered. The workshop was informative & well-structured in such a way that trainees learnt to make Mathematics joyful & interesting subject. Ms. Daksha Joshi, Ms. Urvashi, Ms. Nishi, Ms. Monika & Ms. Neha Tiwari attended the workshop.
5. The workshop for Std. III to V (EVS) was conducted by Ms. Suchita Metar. The resource person conducted various activities like Mind Maps, Annotation, Word Cloud and Collaborative Conversation. It was very well explained how to teach a topic in the form of a story or a poem. Ms. Pooja Sharma, Ms. Pooja Mewada, Ms. Nitisha Shah, Ms. Ritu Ghatpande, Ms. Surbhi, Ms. Shruti Punjabi, Ms. Arti Chaubey attended the workshop.
6. The workshop for Std. VI to VIII (English) was conducted by Ms. Nidhi Munshi. Innovative ways of teaching English were introduced during the workshop. The topics covered were enhancing Creative Writing Skills, Comprehension Based Questions on Blooms Taxonomy, teaching Speech, Voice and Clause. The content was relevant and well-presented and the workshop was engaging. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Meenu Mahajan, Ms. Vijeta Pathak, Ms. Mita Maitra, Ms. Dipali Vaghela and Mr. Nayan Solanki.
7. The workshop for Std. VI to VIII (Hindi) was conducted by Dr. Rakhi Katiyar. All the aspects of language teaching were covered very nicely by her, namely Prose, Poetry, Grammar and Creative Writing with many interesting activities. The workshop was informative and useful. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Maya Jangir, Ms. Jyotsana Bhardwaj, Ms. Heena Makwana and Ms. Rajani Sharma.
8. The workshop for Std. VI to VIII (Mathematics) was conducted by Mr. Arun Kumar Singh. The objective of the workshop was to equip the teachers with a variety of activities for teaching Mathematics and to make the subject more interesting, interactive and enjoyable for the students. Many shortcut methods for teaching complex concepts were also shared by the resource person which made the workshop interesting and enlightening. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Jagruti Sonavane, Ms. Dipali Soni, Ms. Priyal Shah and Ms. Poonam Baikare.
9. The workshop for Std. VI to VIII (Science) was conducted by Ms. Pradnya Gokhale. The workshop was very informative and interactive. The main takeaway of the session was the Question Formulating Technique and the QFocus Design Tool to develop students’ questioning, metacognitive and interpersonal skills. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Shilpa Gupta, Ms. Hardeep Kaur, Ms. Shikha Sharma, Ms. Bhumi Langhnoja, Ms. Neha Vats and Ms. Savita Rathi.
10. The workshop for Std. VI to VIII (Social Science) was conducted by Ms. Anjali Awasthi and Ms. Sonal Sharma. The session was conducted to enable the Social Science teachers develop teaching strategies to engage young learners. Activities that can make topics more interesting like Coin Quest, Timeline, Civics Awaits, Housie, Fishbowl etc. were covered during the session. The workshop was informative and useful. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Nalini Raghave, Ms. Sunita Menezes, Ms. Anupam Thakur and Ms. Monisha Chauhan.
11. The workshop for Std. IX & X (English) was conducted by Ms. Rashmi Patel and Ms. Priya Nair. The session began with the orientation of the question paper pattern of Std. X, CBSE Board, 2023-2024. The next topic covered was a major takeaway of the session – ‘Asking the Right Question’. It was very well covered. Examples of competency-based questions were given and the method of drafting questions was also explained very well. Many interactive activities to make classroom teaching more effective and engaging were conducted. Some of the other aspects covered were Blooms Taxonomy, Formal Letter Writing, Analytical Paragraph Writing, Elements of Poetry and Story Writing. It was a very informative, educative and fruitful workshop. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Purvi Buch, Ms. Vandana Gadiya and Ms. Palak Shah.
12. The workshop for Std. IX & X (Hindi) was conducted by Ms. Shyama Singh. Many interesting activities were conducted during the session. The emphasis of the session was on Grammar and Drafting Advertisements. Groups were formed and teachers were encouraged to draft different types of advertisements. The session was very insightful and informative. Ms. Anju Bhat and Ms. Darshan Dhillon attended the workshop.
13. The workshop for Std. IX & X (Mathematics) was conducted by Ms. Beena Prashant & Ms. Meena Burhanpurkar. The first part of the session covered features of NEP 2020. Various tools of Mathematics like Geogebra, Polpad, Phet etc. were covered. In the second part of the session various activities like Elephant in the Room, Sequence Strip, Pascals Triangle etc. were conducted. The last session was about question paper style, Blooms Taxonomy, Competency-based questions, Interdisciplinary teaching etc. the workshop was very informative and helpful. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Ashwini Shewale, Mr. Safal Karmakar, Ms. Priyanka Ghosh and Ms. Mayuri Thakkar.
14. The workshop for Std. IX & X (Chemistry) was conducted by Dr. Kavita Ranka. The focus of the workshop was the formation of competency-based questions. The resource person shared many interesting activities for making the classroom teaching interesting and engaging. The workshop was attended by Ms. Yogita Telang.
15. The workshop for Std. IX & X (Biology) was conducted by Ms. Geeta Iyer. It was an interesting and helpful workshop which focussed on the framing of competency-based questions. The workshop was attended by Ms. Shikha Bhadoria and Mr. Nikul Patel.
16. The workshop for Std. IX & X (Social Science) was conducted by Ms. Sanchita Kundu. The workshop was didactic. Teaching learning processes like IDP, World Cafe Strategy, Socratic Discussion etc. were introduced. Methods of teaching challenging content were also shared by the resource person. Framing of competency-based questions was also taught. The teachers who attended the workshop were Ms. Kinnari Shah, Ms. Usha Nair, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Ms. Hetal Chauhan and Ms. Shashi Sharma.
17. The workshop for Std. VI to X (Gujarati) was conducted by Ms. Indu Joshi. It was very good and quite helpful. It was attended by Ms. Prerna Shah.
18. The workshop for Std. VI to X (Sanskrit) was conducted by Ms. Samrudhha Marathe. It was quite helpful and interesting. It was attended by Ms. Pratibha Pathak and Ms. Khushbu Parmar.
19. The workshop for Std. XI & XII (English) was conducted by Ms. Kashmira Jaiswal. The resource person discussed at length the techniques of teaching writing skills effectively. Other aspects of language teaching i.e. reading and literature were also emphasized upon. The resource person shared many interesting project ideas that can be given to students. She also threw light on the rubrics for Assessment of Speaking and Listening (ASL). Ms. Ranjana Gangotra and Ms. Sophia Florence Jemima attended the workshop.
20. The workshop for Std. XI & XII (Mathematics) was conducted by Mr. Vijay Pathak. Many concepts related to Geometry were covered during the workshop. The topics covered were of school, graduation and post-graduation level. The concepts were explained using the lecture method. Mr. Jatin Patel and Ms. Neelam Dahiya attended the workshop.
21. The workshop for Std. XI & XII (Physics) was conducted by Dr. Bhaskar Soni. The session was very informative. Various teaching methodologies for difficult and important concepts were discussed. How to do simulation through the software Fibonnaci was also demonstrated. Mr. Hemant Rane & Ms. Laxmi Sagar attended the workshop.
22. The workshop for Std. XI & XII (Chemistry) was conducted by Mr. Amit Thakral. The session was very informative. The resource person explained the importance of planning the lessons well before teaching. He also discussed difficult topics like D & F block elements. Ms. Madhushree Mukherjee & Ms. Lucky Singh attended the workshop.
23. The workshop for Std. XI & XII (Biology) was conducted by Ms. Shailaja Pillai. The session was very informative. She explained about the topic Genetics and Taxonomy. She also focused on various academic activities conducted in school. she explained how to make the topic of taxonomy interesting and understandable. It was a good session. Dr. Deepshikha Shukla and Ms. Gitanjali Tandel attended the workshop.
24. The workshop for Std. XI & XII (Computer Science) was conducted by Ms. Vaishali Bhoite. The workshop provided valuable insights into various topics such as programming, file handling and exception handling in Python. The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding, practical skills and project development capabilities of the teachers. It was a very informative, educative and enriching session.
25. The workshop for Std. XI & XII (Physical Education) was conducted by Mr. Hitesh Pandya. The session was very informative and knowledgeable. Various activities related to theoretical topics were shared during the session which we can implement to make our teaching more effective and valuable. Mr. Sandeep Bhyan attended the workshop.
