Our students participated in the Vadodara Kidovation Festival 2.0 organized by Anand Vidya Vihar School and New Era School on 25th and 26th August 2023. Raahil Desai of Std. National Group Song Competition

IX participated and secured the 3rd position in the National Group Song Competition organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad on 26th August 2023, at the Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, Vadodara. The participants were accompanied by Meet Rana and Pranshu Patel of Std. X who played the orchestra. The music for the song was directed by Mr. Rajiv Dashputre, our music teacher. He also guided and mentored the students.
Painting Competition organised by GUJCOST
Vishwam Shah of Std. VII secured the 3rd position in a Painting Competition organised by GUJCOST on 20th July, 2023 i.e. the International Moon Day. He was felicitated with a Certificate and a Cash Prize of Rs.2000/- on 23rd August, 2023. About 4,057 students had participated in the state level competition which was held for the students of Std. Students of Std. I and II participated in Card Making Competition on 11th August 2023. The topic for the competition was 'Rakshabandhan Card for our Soldiers'. All the students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm and displayed exceptional creativity and imagination during the competition.
Students of Std. III participated in Story Telling Competition on 11th August 2023. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to enhance their speaking skills and build their confidence; and they took full advantage of the opportunity given to them. The storytellers enthralled the audience with wonderful stories. They took into account every element of storytelling and gave a mind-blowing performance.
Students of Std. IV and V participated in Patriotic Song Competition on 11th August 2023. It not only provided them with an opportunity to enhance self-expression but also highlighted their love and respect for our motherland. The auditorium reverberated with patriotic songs and the participants' patriotic fervor echoed in their songs and voices. Some of the songs sung by them were 'Aye mere vatan.....', 'De di hume azadi.....', 'Mera mulk mera desh.....', 'Suno gaur se duniya walo.....', 'Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai.....', 'Teri mitti me mil java.....' etc. The participants fascinated the audience with spectacular performances.
Students of Std. VI participated in Debate Competition held on 12th August 2023. Debate Competitions provide participants a platform to put across their thoughts and beliefs either in favour of or against a topic or a subject. The topic for the competition was ‘Zoo Is the Right Place for the Conservation of Animals’. The students spoke very effectively and convincingly both in favour of and against the notion. They confidently put forth their views and opinion.
Students of Std. VII participated in Elocution Competition held on 12th August 2023. Elocution competition provides a platform to the participants to enhance their speaking skills. The participants spoke clearly and effectively. They expressed their ideas with proper pronunciation, style and inflection on various topics like – ‘How do Technological Advances Influence Us?’, ‘The Benefits of Reading’, ‘Music has a Healing Power’, ‘The Importance of Forgiveness’ and ‘Significance of Extra Curricular Activities’. The competition was a grand success.
Students of Std. VIII and IX participated in Nukkad Natika Competition held on 12th August 2023. Nukkad Natikas aim at spreading valuable messages on sensitive social and political issues. They provide the participants the platform to write, practice and enact plays. The topics for the competition were - 'सोशियल मीडिया के फायदे और नुकसान' and 'हिंसक वीडियो गेम्स - आज की समस्या'. Under the guidance and support of their mentor teachers, the participants came up with meaningful scripts and gave spectacular performances. They were able to effectively convey messages to the audience, about the ill effects of social media and violent video games. The competition was a grand success.
Independence Day
India celebrated its 77th Independence Day on 15th August 2023, Tuesday. The theme for this year's Independence Day was 'Nation First, Always First'.
Independence Day reminds us of India's struggle for freedom from the British Raj. The day invokes feelings of patriotism among the citizens and creates a sense of duty towards the nation. It also serves as a reminder to stay united and lead the nation to prosperity.
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, we celebrated Independence Week with a great spirit of patriotism. Teachers shared interesting facts about the 77th Independence Day. Students made national flags. They also made drawings and posters of national heroes. During the morning assembly, songs were sung and dances were performed. The theme for one of the dances was the launch of ‘Chandrayan 3’. The salient features of the Flag Code of India, 2002, were also shared with the students. Independence Day programme commenced with a welcome speech. Principal Ms Neeta Sharma hoisted the Tiranga. This was followed by the National Anthem. Instilled with a sense of pride for the nation the heads, the teachers, the parents and the students sung the Jhanda Geet and Patriotic songs in succession. The Principal, Ms Neeta Sharma, addressed the audience and talked about the initiatives of the government under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event culminated with the singing of the national song - Vande Mataram.
National Sports Day
National Sports Day is celebrated in India on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand. This year we celebrated Major Dhyan Chand’s 118th anniversary. The day is observed to spread awareness about the importance of sports in everyone's life.
We celebrated the National Sports Day on 29.08.2023. A song based on the theme of 'Khelo India Khelo' was sung enthusiastically by the students during the morning assembly. The Sports Leader of the school, Aashna Ballabh of Std. X, delivered a speech on the occasion. The class teachers shared interesting information about Major Dhyan Chand briefing the students about his life and contribution to Indian Hockey. Quiz was also conducted in the classrooms for all the students of the school. The students participated zestfully in Intramural matches like Kho-Kho, Dodge Ball, Volley Ball, Langdi etc.
Raksha Bandhan
Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival celebrated on the Purnima Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Shravan. It is a day to recognize the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters. This year, Raksha Bandhan was celebrated on 30th August 2023.
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with great merriment and joy at our school. A Raksha Bandhan song was sung during the morning assembly. The girls of lower primary section applied tilak and tied rakhis to the boys of the class, thereby strengthening their bond. Students also made Rakhis, Greeting Cards, Gift Packages, Pooja Trays etc. using waste material, to reiterate and encourage the concept of reuse and recycle.
Teachers Day
Every year, India celebrates Teacher’s Day on 5th September to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an Indian politician, philosopher, and statesman who was born on this day in 1888. He served as the second president of India from 1962 to 1967. When Dr. Radhakrishnan’s students sought his permission to celebrate his birthday, he instead, requested them to observe it as Teachers’ Day to acknowledge the invaluable contribution made by teachers to the society. Ever since then, 5th September has been celebrated as Teachers' Day.
Teacher's Day was celebrated with great merriment and jubilation. The school fondly remembered the contribution made by its founder Sir Shri Jayendrabhai Shah to the field of education. The heads and staff members paid their tribute to Sir by offering flowers. The Principal, Ms Neeta Sharma, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the teachers on their special day and advised the students to respect and obey the teachers. Harper Collins India felicitated many teachers with titles on this momentous day for their invaluable contribution to the school in particular and to the field of education at large.

Interesting information about Dr S. Radhakrishnan was shared by the students during the morning assembly. The song, 'Ruk Jana Nahin Tu Kahin Harke...' was sung by our music teacher Mr Rajiv Dashputre in the most heartwarming voice. The students expressed their gratitude to the teachers by conducting teaching sessions on behalf of them, giving them a much needed break. As a token of appreciation, the teachers received wristbands and greeting cards from the Bright Management. The Bright Management had organised a Musical Concert for the teachers and other staff members in the evening followed by dinner.
Janmashtami Celebration
Janmashtami is observed on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in the Bhadrapad month of Shraavana and this year, it fell on 7th September. It is one of the most important Hindu festival. It celebrates Lord Krishna’s birth as the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who delivered the critical message of ‘Bhagvad Gita’, the guiding principle for all Hindus.
Our students celebrated the festival wholeheartedly. Our Chairman Dr Simit Shah and the Directress - Ms Swara Shah - performed a Puja to evoke the blessings of Lord Vishnu. In veneration of Lord Krishna, songs were sung by the students during the morning assembly. The music teachers Mr Rajiv and Ms Debjani mentored the students. It was a delightful mix of songs which saw the students clapping and tapping their legs to the beats of the music.
The students of Std. I to V dressed in traditional and colourful attire matched the vibe of the festival. The students of primary section dressed as Krishna, Radha and Gopis. The Janmashtami festival was celebrated in the Shri J. R. Shah auditorium and the students gave animated and staggering performances one after the other, much to the delight of the parents. The function began by welcoming the esteemed guests and parents. A play was enacted on the birth of Lord Krishna, followed by various dance performances like ‘Rudi Rangilee Dance’, ‘Raas’, ‘Nidhivan Dance’, ‘Matki Dance’ etc. Keeping in sync with tradition, a pot was hung and broken by the ‘Govindas’ with the help of none other than the Chairman of the school, Dr Simit Shah. The teachers of Std. I to XII, shared information about Janmashtami with the students. The students also made beautiful drawings and paintings of Lord Krishna and decorated clay pots in classrooms under the guidance of the art and craft teachers.
Eco- Friendly Ganesh Visarjan Celebration
The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi festival commenced with the ‘Ganesh-Sthapana Puja' performed by our Chairman Dr Simit Shah and Directress Ms Swara Shah. Our Principal, Ms Neeta Sharma, Heads, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members and students joined the puja to solicit God's blessings. We ceremoniously brought Lord Ganesha's idol into the premises. Brightians sang songs during the morning assembly in glory of Lord Ganesha and students tapped their feet and clapped to the beats of the music. Students made beautiful paintings of Lord Ganesha and even made Ganesh idols with clay.
A procession was carried out during the Ganesh Visarjan, where students fancily dressed up as Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, also as flowers, fairies, birds, cartoons, members of the armed forces, scientists, sports personalities etc. Additionally, Brightians dressed up in the traditional attire of Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir state (our partner state for the year 2023-24 under the Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat Campaign) and dignitaries of the G-20 summit. Scouts and Guides students were also a part of the procession. Brightians also gave an energetic Lezim performance. The girl students, decked up in beautiful traditional attires, danced to the tunes of the garba songs. The entire school participated in the celebrations. Lord Ganesha's eco friendly idol was immersed in a water tank at school. The water was later used for watering the plants, thereby setting an example of celebrating eco-friendly festivals.
