International Yoga Day
An invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition, Yoga has emerged as one of the most trusted means to boost physical and mental well-being. The word 'Yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'dyuj' meaning 'to join', symbolizing the unity of mind and body; thought and action; harmony between human and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being.
Due to Honourable PM Shri Narendra Modi’s relentless efforts, June 21 was declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. In its resolution, the UNGA endorsed that "Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being apart from striking a balance between all aspects of life." This has infused an era of holistic health revolution in which attention is given more to prevention rather than the cure. The theme of International Yoga Day 2025 is 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'.
Bright Day School observed International Yoga Day with great energy and enthusiasm. During the morning assembly students shared interesting information about Yoga like its origin, history and benefits. The spirit of the day was heightened by the singing of a melodious song by the school choir under the skillful guidance of the music teacher Mr Jayesh Patel. Class teachers briefed the students about International Yoga Day, its benefits on physical health and mental well-being, its contribution to academic performances, its global recognition etc. Under the guidance of the Visual Arts teachers, students created various asanas using the popular paper folding art of Origami. They also made line drawings, bookmarks and posters. During the course of the day the students performed various asanas like ‘Trikonasana’, ‘Mandukasana’, ‘Tadasana’, ‘Vrikshasana’, ‘Vajrasana’ etc.; under the supervision and guidance of the Physical Education teachers. The benefits of the asanas were also explained to the students.

It's a time for heartfelt gratitude and reverence to those who have guided us on our spiritual journey. The day is also known as Vyasa Purnima, for it marks the birth anniversary of Veda Vyasa, the sage who authored the Mahabharata and compiled the Vedas.
